Edoardo Crisafulli

I am a Cultural Attaché at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I am currently in charge as the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Beirut. I have been responsible of Italian language courses at the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo (2010-2016). Between 2011 and 2012, in the midst of the Arab Spring, I was the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Damascus. From 2003 to 2008 I was the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Haifa, Israel. Previously I taught Italian at the Universities of Jeddah, Dublin and Manchester.

I have written 5 books.

I received a four-year B.A. degree in Foreign Languages from the University of Urbino, a Master's in Applied English Linguistics from Birmingham University and a Doctorate in Italian and Translation from University College Dublin.

My intellectual passions are: the translations of Dante’s Comedy into English; the history of democratic socialism; multiculturalism and language policies.

I am a card-carrying member of the Italian socialist party and I regularly contribute to the socialist magazine Mondoperaio and to the blog of the Nenni Foundation.
